It was another fun weekend with soccer for Emily's team. They were missing a couple of their good players but still determined they won the first game 4-2 (I think). Emily scored on a free kick. Her team played very well despite the few players that were missing. The second game was a lot harder. It was there first loss this year. The team just flat out out played them 0-3. You can't win them all. On Sunday morning it was a must win game to advance to the championship game. They played a team they play a lot and can never seem to dominate. They have beat them each time but only by a goal or two. This game was so good. Emily got the crap beaten out of her. She had to come out of the game with a bloody knee. She ended up with 3 bleeders on her knees. Two on one and one on the other. A very hard fought game. This was also the game that she took a ball straight to the face from about 3 yards away! It wanted to cry on the sideline from seeing how red her face was. We couldn't see initially what happened because the referee was in the way but Holly came down and told us!! The scored ended up being 1-0. Emily had a beautiful cross or shot (not sure which she was going for) and Angela was right on the goal line and tipped it in.
Then for the championship game. It was the BEST game they have played yet. It was against the team they lost to 0-3. Emily made a goal after about 7 minutes of play. The arsenal literally scored on the next play. Tied 1-1. Emily had another free tick outside the 18 again. It bounced over the keepers head and we were up 2-1.....yes....they answered back. It was tied 2-2 going into the half. Gilbert came out and scored and were up 3-2.....the team was playing so good. It was a nail bitter. With about 2 minutes left in the game, Emily had another free kick. She missed it about 2 feet above the goal. It was so sad. She started to cry, she told me that she wanted this game so bad. She wanted to beat them. The team really deserved the win.....great effort. Best game this year by far! Way to go girls, a
TERRIFIC team effort! We are so proud of you Emily.
If you look really close at the second picture, Emily (#5) is basically getting close lined by #4 but the referee saw it differently and called the foul on Emily.
