Whale Watching

There is not much to say except BREATHTAKING! It was amazing. We took a short "cruise" on the Star of Honolulu. It was the best time (except seeing my family)...I would almost rank it up with snorkeling. Only 5 minutes into the trip and we found a mom and baby humpback. I wanted to stay there the entire time just to watch them. I felt like a kid in a candy store. I still get excited just thinking about it. We ended up seeing 5 or 6 total....none breeched/jumped out of the water but just seeing them was all I needed. That just leaves us more of a reason to go back soon!

On the way back to the port there were activities for us to do if you chose to. They had lei making, hula lessons, ukulele lessons. Drew and Emily did a GREAT job making their leis!

Ready to go back....but we need to wait a month or two. It takes a few days to get back into the right time zone!

We LOVE you Hawaii! See you soon!

Lauren -

But know you are having fun in
San Diego with Katelyn!

LOVE YOU!

So Beautiful

This place is so beautiful.
We wanted to site see today.....so we started up to the Dole Pineapple Plantation which is in the middle of the island. On our way up we stopped at the Birthing Stones. It was different to see how some gave birth but interesting to read the story behind it.

The Kukaniloko Birthing Stones is where royalty gave birth to future leaders Once the women gave birth (mind you in front of 36 male chiefs watching), the child was taken from her and she would not see them again until they were grown. They did this so the child wouldn't be murdered. It sure didn't look comfortable and maked me appreciate the hospitals!

Part 2 - Dole Pineapple Plantation

We headed off to the Dole Pineapple Plantation. EVERYTHING pineapple! It smelled SO YUMMY and sweet. Nothing is better then fresh pineapple. We rode the train around and learned some interesting facts:
  • it doesn't matter what color the pineapple is as long as the stem is green and the pineapple is firm
  • pineapple is good to eat when you are done with a meal because it has a digestive agent in it
  • a pineapple worker can plant 10,000 in one day..they are all hand planted

I love this PINK pineapple!

Part 3 - North Shore: Kaunala Beach/Turtle Bay

The day before we came it RAINED and RAINED....flash flood warnings, brown run off into the ocean so we wanted to at least go to the water and see what it was like! We went to Kaunala Beach and Turtle Bay. We love love love just sitting by the ocean. It is so relaxing! Not a very good picture but here is the brown run off...they advised everyone to not go in the water

PARADISE

This guy was making coconuts drinks. He cut them in 1/2 and stuck a straw in the coconut so you could drink the coconut milk!

Turtle Bay Resort golf course was beautiful

I have NEVER ever seen a blue stop sign......

There are crabs walking on these rocks from the big waves coming in

Cute girls Erin & Emily

Andy was TRYING to explain to Drew that crabs were in the shells he was gathering

There were TONS of baby crabs and they were crawling everywhere!

My cute Aunt Stacey!
